Some tips and customizations of the recipe

There are 8 simple ingredients for these muffins. Fortunately, there can be made some substitutions when you don’t have all the ingredients from the list.

Olive oil – you can replace olive oil with coconut oil. I recommend using unrefined coconut oil so the muffins will have special coconut taste as well. Plus, unrefined coconut oil is definitely a healthier option than refined coconut oil.

Oat flour – this flour can be replaced with any other flour that you have at home. If you are using all-purpose flour your vegan chocolate muffins are no longer gluten free. On the bright side, the muffins should be even fluffier with all-purpose flour. But do not add too much flour, otherwise, these muffins will be too dry.

Almond milk – if you don’t have any plant-based milk at home you can replace it with water. The milk or water is necessary to keep these muffins perfectly moist after baking them.

All the ingredients and measurements are listed in the recipe card below! With this amount of ingredients, you can make about 6 muffins. So double the ingredients if you want to make 12.

How to store?

If you make a larger batch of these vegan chocolate muffins and don’t eat them right away it is essential to store them in an airtight container in the fridge. This will prevent the muffins from getting dry.

You can store the muffins in the fridge for up to five days. Or you can even freeze the muffins, and heat them in the oven whenever you want to satisfy your sweet cravings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you make muffins from scratch without milk?

Making these vegan chocolate muffins from scratch without milk is not hard at all. In this recipe, I am using only plant-based milk, but if you don’t want to use any milk at all then water would be fine too. Thanks to the liquid the muffins will be moist and fudgy after baking them. You can leave even the water out, but then you might risk with too dry muffins.
