These healthy homemade Twix bars are completely sugar free and gluten free, and you can eat more than just one without overloading with sugar. No special ingredients needed, all ingredients in this recipe are simple and not expensive at all. Just the way I like – easy to make, low budget desserts with simple ingredients.


I recommend making these healthy homemade Twix bars at the start of the week, so you will have a quick snack to bite whenever you feel hungry or when you are craving something sweet. Also, if you have healthy snacks already ready you don’t have to worry about eating something full of sugar and other bad ingredients.

How to make healthy homemade Twix bars


It takes many simple and low budget ingredients to make these Twix bars. And you’ll have a delicious treat to enjoy throughout the week.

Step #1: Preheat the oven to 200˚C.

Step #2: Melt butter and honey on the water bath, take off the heat, let cool a bit, and then add flour. Press the mixture onto the prepared cooking tray. Bake the mixture in the oven for 8-10 minutes.

Step #3: Remove from the oven, and let them cool for 30 minutes.

Step #4: Blend dates with banana, and add peanut butter to the mixture. Place the mixture on top of the baked base and let it set in the freezer until the layer is firm.

Step #5: Cut the crunchy bottom and caramel layer into desired pieces. Melt chocolate, dip Twix bars in and let it set in the fridge.

These Healthy Homemade Twix bars are ready to enjoy!


It is essential to let the caramel layer sit in the freezer until firm because it is easier to cut and won’t fall apart. I think it would take about an hour to firm up, it depends if the crunchy layer has cooled down. But be patient, it will make your work later so much easier!

Some tips for the recipe


You can add crushed nuts to the caramel layer, so you will have something similar to Snickers. Or you can add crushed nuts to the melted chocolate to elevate the look of these healthy bars.


Also, you can make these homemade Twix bars vegan – all you have to do is replace butter with coconut oil or olive oil. And use maple syrup or any other vegan sticky sweetener instead of honey.


Last but not least, I recommend storing your cookies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. The fridge is essential, otherwise, these Twix bars might melt and the eating process can get messy. 😀
